I live in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland.
My interest in photography developed whilst I served as a police officer in the Northern Constabulary.
As a Detective Officer stationed on the Isle of Skye and the Isle of Lewis I was called upon to take photographs of crime scenes ranging from shoplifting to fatal road accidents to murders.
I retired from the police in 2002 having completed 30 years service.
When I first started taking photographs in the 70s it was with black and white film and a Mamiya C330 Twin Lens Reflex Camera. I used to develop and print my crime scene photographs in an old cupboard which I converted into a darkroom
Over the years I have built up a considerable collection of colour slides and prints but twelve years ago I converted to digital and now use a Nikon D80 10.0 Megapixel camera.
In addition to photography my other two main hobbies are fly fishing and aircraft spotting and I always carry one of my cameras with me whilst pursuing these hobbies.
The lochs that I fish on are in some of the most beautiful parts of the Highlands and a lot of the photographs on this site are taken either at the loch or during my journey to or from the loch
